Fear Not – October Box

For I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you. - Isaiah 41:13

I’m not sure if you have noticed but we are in the middle of a pandemic.  I’m not talking about the obvious.  What I’m referring to, is a pandemic of fear.  Turn on the TV and the stories fill your heart with fear.  Social media leads to more fear.  Conversations with friends and family can often give you additional reasons to be afraid.  Nowadays, simply walking into a store to grab a gallon of milk can cause fear.

As Christians, we don’t need to be afraid, and we should not be afraid.  Yes, if we look at the chaos swirling around us, there is plenty to fear.  However, we should have a completely different perspective and attitude from those who don’t know Jesus.

fear not

I remember in 2019, there was a Norweigen Cruise stuck in a terrible storm.  In a video posted by a passenger, you can see tables, chairs, and other furniture slide from one end of the boat to the other.  One thing I noticed was in the middle of the room was a large piano.  The piano was bolted to the floor and despite the intense rocking of the ship, it did not budge.  You can see the video here: https://youtu.be/jcdZ4cbNPkA

It may seem difficult to believe, but we can be just like that piano when we are in the middle of a storm.  If our feet are firmly planted on the firm foundation of Jesus, we can be unshakable.  Does that mean we won’t feel the wind from the storm?  No, but we can face it with confidence and assurance that we are not alone.

The Bible says in Isaiah 43:2:

When you pass through the waters,
    I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
    they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
    you will not be burned;
    the flames will not set you ablaze.

This verse doesn’t say that we won’t pass through waters, rivers, and fires but it does say that the Lord will be with us and we will not be overcome.

The next time you are afraid, call out to Jesus.  He is so faithful to take hold of our hand, remind us not to fear, and walk beside us each step of the way.

In Joy,

Dear Lord, this world is scary and seems to get scarier with each passing day.  Thank you that I can have peace because I know the one who holds it all!  When I am afraid, please remind me that you take hold of my hand, so I never walk alone.  I trust in your plan and purpose.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

If you don’t know the peace that comes from knowing and walking with Jesus, I encourage you to simply start with this simple prayer;  “Jesus, I need you.  I want to have peace and joy regardless of my circumstances and what is going on around me.  I recognize that I am a sinner in need of a savior.  I believe that you died on the cross for my sins and God raised you from the dead.  I believe that you, Jesus are Lord. Amen.”

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.– Romans 10:9

If you prayed that prayer, welcome to the family of Christ!  Reach out to a trusted Christian friend and tell them about your decision or shoot us an email to let us know.  Find a local Bible believing church and dig into the word of God.  The books of John or Psalms are a great place to start!  If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us at blessings@injoybox.com
