Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
I have heard this verse many times in my life. It had been a source of comfort when I was uncertain where my path was leading me.
A little over a year ago I was teaching at a small private school and loving what I was doing. I was in my fourth year at the school and I was in my comfort zone. I knew the content I was teaching and what I needed to do to prepare for each year. I had moved into a leadership position, as lead elementary teacher. I thought I had a plan set for my future. Then the school announced they were closing their doors. Instantly, I was overcome with fear. Where would I go? Where would my kids go to school? I questioned why God would open a door only to close it so soon. Then this verse came to my mind; “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord…”. His plan, not mine. I began praying that God would show me where I was to be and what I was to do next.
God opened the door for me to teach at another school. I can look back now and see God was preparing me for the next step. He was giving me the tools I needed to be successful.
This verse gives me the comfort to know that I may not always know what Gods plan is but He is always working for me. He does not harm. He gives hope and a future to those who follow and seek Him in all they do.
